Online bathroom giant Plumbworld have always been a believer in carbon offset and looking after the environment, not only with the launch of their Woodburning-stoves site, but with the announcement of the new wood.

Currently Plumbworld offer a carbon offset for delivery on its website, this allows customer to offset part of the delivery charge, normally around 50pence per delivery. This money goes towards the Plant a Tree with Plumbworld fund which allows projects like this one with the Heart Of England Forest Project to take place.

The Heart Of England Forest Project is based in the midlands and is a registered charity, their mission statement is ‘Plantation, re-plantation, conservation, protection, preservation, restoration and re-establishment of trees for the benefit of the public, together with the education of the public by the promulgation of knowledge and appreciation of trees’.

Stephen Coffey, Head Forester stated:

“The aptly titled ‘Plumbworld Wood’ will be located on a 9.11 hectare plot and there will be a total of 9819 trees across 24 varieties planted by the end of the season. Over a third of the trees planted will be English Oak, but other popular trees will be included such as around 150 Willow trees in the more boggy areas. On the outer parts of the wood there will be a lot of hardy shrubs such as Dogwood, Guelder rose and the common privet.”

Carbon offset has gained mass appeal recently mainly among consumers in the western world who have been pressured to be concerned about the negative environmental effects caused by transport (such as delivery of products to your households) and non-renewable energy usage.
