Riverfest Celebrates the Rivers of Farmington, N.M. on Memorial Day Weekend

Riverfest in Farmington, N.M.

Farmington, N.M. (PRWEB) May 17, 2012

Riverfest is one of the most popular annual events promoted by the Farmington Convention & Visitors Bureau. It has live music, a juried art show, arts and crafts booths, river rafting, a wiener dog race, a pie eating contest, 5K and 10K races and more. Families come from around the region to enjoy entertainment on the trails and brick terraces that line the Animas River. They stop at an All Veterans Park along its banks, paying tribute to servicemen and women. Along with the fun, Riverfest is a symbol of the community’s pride in a public/private partnership that has greatly enhanced Farmington’s quality of life.

Farmington’s Riverine Project, which to date has developed five parks along the Animas River, began in the1980’s combining city government backing with citizen activism. Working together, they began the long process of cleaning up and beautifying rivers that were then ignored trash-filled back waters. According to Bob Hudson, retired Farmington City Manager, who came to Farmington originally to head its Parks and Recreation Department, “The Riverine Project has been the best thing that has happened in Farmington area since the development of the natural gas industry here and will continue to be the most significant public and private partnership enterprise in the years to come.” In 2011 the river parks’ trail system received a National Recreation Trail designation from the Department of Interior.

The River Reach Foundation in Farmington is the nonprofit organization that spearheads volunteer work and private fund raising to protect and improve the river corridors. The group also seeks land grants and easements from owners to increase park access along the rivers. Their volunteers help City parks staff build new trails and maintain old ones. Most recently City staff and Foundation volunteers repaired the Rocky Reach Rapid creating a hydraulic wave feature for kayakers and boaters in the process. Besides producing Riverfest, the Foundation also organizes a RiverGlo at Christmas and various concerts along the river.

Over the years Farmington’s riverside parks have played host to numerous other local, state, regional, and national events. They serve as a surprisingly successful economic and tourism generator, even “serving as a selling point for hosting conferences and conventions,” notes Hudson.

Despite the importance of Farmington’s riverside parks as community assets, it may be just as important to remember that these parks along a river in Northern New Mexico are a fine place for a quiet walk in a natural oasis now reclaimed.

The Farmington Convention & Visitors Bureau is a destination marketing organization that supplies visitor information to travelers interested in things to see and do in Farmington and the Four Corners region.

Jason?s Jump Castles Launches Its New HTML5 WordPress Website

Jason’s Jump Castles Launches Its New HTML5 WordPress Website

Charleston, SC (PRWEB) March 19, 2012

Jason’s Jump Castles is excited to announce the launch of their brand-new WordPress website. The new website was developed to better meet the needs of their customers in preparation for their busiest time of year, spring and summer.

The new website, found online at http://jasonsjumpcastles.com, offers a variety of user-friendly tools for visitor engagement. The wide array of products has been enhanced to include better descriptions and photography. Each product image—most have multiple exterior and interior shots—expands with a simple click to show a large-scale version.

On an ongoing basis, the company will be adding videos throughout the website, to give patrons an amazing first-hand look at the jump castles, combos, slides, dunk tanks, games, and obstacle courses in action. A designated Videos page features all the videos culled or created to date, including a commercial-style video for Jason’s Jump Castles, found at http://www.jasonsjumpcastles.com/videos/

Within each product’s individual webpage are a series of linked related items, chosen especially for their relevance by theme, gender, age, or activity level, to make it simpler for customers to create an exciting overall experience for their group. Each product page provides a link to an online form to request more information or to inquire about reserving a particular product or products. Visitors can share the products and special offers through integrated social media buttons.

As part of the overall web development package, web design team Enve Creative also refreshed the Jason’s Jump Castles Facebook page to account for the Timeline switch; their page can be seen at http://facebook.com/jasonsjumpcastles. They spent significant time drafting fun little descriptions for each product, and enhanced the site throughout with best practices for SEO.

Enve Creative was originally brought on in 2010 to redesign a clunky, outdated website that the business owner was struggling with having updated. They were delighted that the client was open to this forward-thinking redesign in 2012, feeling it is a necessary part of keeping a business’s image fresh and potential customers enticed.

“Many clients assume that, once you’ve designed a decent website, you’re all finished. The opposite is true,” explains Sarah Espano, principal and lead designer of Enve Creative. “In fact, while it’s important to have a timeless look, with innovations in online technology and customer interaction changing all the time, it makes sense after a couple years to take a step back and evaluate whether or not you could do better.”

While the overall look and feel between the 2010 version and this year’s redesign remained consistent, the exciting features inherent in HTML5 and WordPress make the site more interactive and easier to maintain. “It says something about the type of businessperson Jason is that he is always willing to try new and better ways to attract his target audience,” Espano relates. “It’s important to stay ahead of the competition, rather than always reacting after the fact.”

Mel Foster Insurance Offers Tips for National Flood Safety Awareness

Mel Foster Insurance Offers Tips for National Flood Safety Awareness

Mel Foster Insurance

Davenport, IA – Quad Cities (PRWEB) March 12, 2012

Mel Foster Insurance, a local and independent insurance agency, announces that March 12-16 is National Flood Safety Awareness Week. This week is intended to highlight for individuals, families, businesses and communities the many ways floods can occur, the hazards associated with floods, and what you can do to save life and property.

Floods can happen at any time, and especially with the Mississippi River located right in the community. Floods can occur when too much rain falls or snow melts too quickly. There are simple steps individuals can take to reduce their risk of a flood.

Mel Foster Insurance offers these tips to prepare for a flood.

Develop an emergency kit that has insurance documents, medications and important items in case you need to evacuate your home.
Keep drains, gutters and downspouts clear of debris.
Inspect sump pumps and drains regularly to ensure proper operation.
To prevent sewage backup, have a licensed plumber install an interior or exterior backflow valve.
Make sure your yard’s grading (slope) directs water away from the home.
If your home is located in a flood area, elevate the furnace, water heater and electrical panel.

Standard home owners insurance does not cover floods, so contact a Mel Foster Insurance agent to learn about flood insurance options or to save money on your current flood insurance.
