“An architect once mentioned to me, after visiting the owners, that he was excited to see this new home that we had designed in the Lafayette hills,” said Swatt. “I smiled, explaining that this in fact was an older home that we transformed.”

When Robert Brahm decided to rebuild his mountain cabin in a wildfire prone area of Mt. San Jacinto outside of Idyllwild, California, his architect reminded him of strict new building codes.
